The usual reason is when using a PowerPC Mac, such as a G4 or G5 Mac. If you want to install Chrome on your MacBook Pro, check if your Mac supports later versions of OS X or macOS. Sorry - I assumed that you had to stay with 10.5.8. The latest version of Google Chrome will not run on a Mac running OS X 10.7.5 (Lion), but it will run on Macs running OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later.
